What's the Story?
In TRICK OR TREAT ON SCARY STREET, a group of kids spends Halloween night in a familiar neighborhood that's suddenly full of spooky houses and frightful walks. As they make their way past a mansion, a gingerbread house, pumpkins, giant spiders, and more, kids seem to disappear, and the group gets smaller. With only a few kids left, they all hope to make it to the end of the street and whatever is waiting for them there!
Is It Any Good?
The expressive illustrations are the real stars of this picture book, capturing a spooky, fun Halloween from the kids' perspective better than Lance Bass' awkward rhymes, which don't have a natural flow to them. Trick or Treat on Scary Street is saved by Roland Garrigue's splashy colors, delightful expressions, and eerie frights of kids spending Halloween night on a familiar neighborhood street that's all of a sudden much spookier than normal. The story is cute and has a fun ending, but don't try to speed through reading it aloud.
