What Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that Twintuition: Double Vision is the first in a planned series by actresses Tia and Tamera Mowry. It follows twin sisters who realize they both see visions of the future when they touch another person. Though there are some instances of bullying, the story focuses more on the importance of coming together as a family despite your differences. It's also a fine choice for families looking for books with diverse characters.

What's the Story?
Being twins is pretty special, but when Cassie and Caitlyn have to uproot once again and head to a dusty little place in Texas, being the new twins in town isn't their biggest problem. Each of them experiences strange visions when they touch another person. It doesn't happen all the time, but it happens often enough to make the coolest girl in school start calling them freaks. On top of all that, Cassie and Caitlyn are more like strangers than sisters these days, so neither one knows that her twin also is having these visions. Something scary is on the horizon, and the only way their little family is going to make it is if they pull together -- but can they?
Is It Any Good?
Caitlyn and Cassie must add seeing visions of the future to their already complicated life in this fun, twisty, yet familiar take on the magic of sisterhood. While TWINTUITION: DOUBLE VISION sometimes feels like a That's So Raven/Twitches hybrid, the authors exhibit a maturity in their storytelling that keeps the novel interesting and exciting. Readers can identify with sibling drama and middle school awkwardness while being swept up in the mystery of the sisters' new powers -- and what those powers mean in the battle to save their mom.
The book also sets up the next mystery in the series quite nicely. If the Mowry sisters can continue to bring new flavor to their comfortable characters, readers and parents will gobble the next book up.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about bullying behavior. The twins had very different approaches to dealing with the main bully in their school. Which approach worked? In what other ways can kids deal with mean girls?
How can you manage bullying when it takes place online or via social media?
Think about a few of your favorite TV shows. How are adults and kids portrayed? Are there examples of positive family relationships or bratty behavior? Which of these examples reflect real-life family dynamics?
