I think that David Levithan's story was heartwarming and perfect for 11 year olds. There is minimal sexual actions, and swearing that's not even noticeable through the intricate plot. Marty and Bobby show children that it is okay to be who they are, and that romance is the most beautiful attribute that God has created.
I expected this to be a light and fluffy beach read- boy, was I wrong. This book made me cry and think. Though there's nothing especially explicit in the ways of violence or sex, this book is deep and in no way restricted to the young adult audience it was intended for.
