When Dimple Met Rishi

I love the concept of this book - When Harry met Sally with Indian American teenagers. The world needs more books about diverse characters and more romances with Asian American leads. The writing and pacing were a bit flat for me. I put the age at 14-15+ because the 18 year old main characters do have sex, which while not graphic, does having them taking their shirts off. Definitely too mature for my 12 year old.

I read on the dust jacket that the author was a fan of Bollywood and that makes total sense because this book is basically Bollywood meets a YA novel. It's about 17+ year olds so there are several mentions of sexual activity and one sex "scene" (though nothing is graphically described). Some of the characters are a bit stereotypical and flat and the storyline was completely formulaic and predictable, but it had some cute moments. A good beach book!
