The best racer that answers the need for a Mario Kart on other consoles.

Much like the title states, this is a more 'realistic' racer that takes notes from a Mario Kart racer with weapons to pick up along the way and allows 4 player split screen or online racing which is VERY rare and highly neglected feature. The realism is offset by the arcade style execution and forgiving in instances of crashing or missing a drift around a corner and careening off the road, causing you to instantly respawn into the race. Although not as 'cheeky' and cute as a cart style game, the balance between the realistic tracks with often multiple routes and the huge variety of cars to choose provides a refreshing addition and change from the norm making this game it's own thing while still keeping the fun factor of a cart like game in tact. This is a very well executed ride with smooth controls and multiple vehicle types to fit your play style and drift /speed tolerances. In multiplayer mode everything is unlocked from the get go, so you are not bogged down with completing tasks and missions before you can get into the game. There is a story driven game mode, but this is completely optional for varietys' sake. Along with arena battles and multiplayer customization options, there's really no reason NOT to like this game if you are looking for a multiplayer racer, even with the option of disabling weapons if you like, making this title more versatile that any other arcade style racer to date. Highly recommended from an owner of both Mario Kart and Forza Horizon 3. Best of both worlds. For parents there is some mild language but not pervasive enough to be annoying and not frequent, but it IS a consideration for very young players.

I could understand if it was 10 or 11, but 12 is just absurd.

I dont agree it should be on for 12, even though its not the first racing game id pick. However, this is a good choice for tweens thats not a shooter, because all i hear my 10yo son talk about is Call of Duty, Halo, Assassins creed, Fallout, and Uncharted. The most violent thing in it is probably car wrecks which is sadly part of everyday life except in blur noones drinking or texting when they crash. And mild profanity is heard, but the worst thing they say is b*tch but its not like they use it on a minutley basis.

Good arcade racer, nothing much to worry about.

Blur is a racing game with the same idea as Mario Kart. No. It does not have cartoon graphics, you have real cars. You have the ability to fire missiles as other cars and electric shock them to cause crashes and accidents. Nothing really too mature for kids. If you are disturbed by blowing up cars, Get your head checked. ;)
