Mature but sensible, violent but reasonable, surprisingly educational

On its own, the game isn't necessarily violent. There are some scenes that can be distressing to younger players --- for example, there are a few scenes where main characters die --- but it's nothing seriously graphic. Even the more violent scenes, such as beheading foes in combat or poisoning the Mongol invaders, are relatively tame. Blood and gore can be turned off and the game has no sexual elements, although it has a bit of (solo) censored nudity in optional scenes. There are minor references to alcohol and a scene where the player character and a comrade of his get drunk, but aside from this there is little mention of drugs, alcohol, or similar concepts. There are some minor swears --- the most common is "damn" but the S-bomb is dropped once or twice. The game handles mature themes, most notably whether tradition is so important that it should be abandoned even if you would certainly die via sticking to it. It encourages critical thinking on the subject of dogma and offers unique insights into a culture and period of history not commonly talked about even if bits of it are anachronistic.

Great game, would buy for my 12 year old son.

The game has beautiful scenery, and I don't think it should be an 18. It has violence, but most games nowadays have violence worse than Ghost of Tsushima - it doesn't have any gore. There's no nudity, and for blood, while it can be seen on swords, can be turned off. Overall, it's a great game, and has great motivational speeches. Parents shouldn't be afraid to buy this for their children - I would buy this for my 13 year old son.

Ok it has blood. I am going to say that outright but provided your child isn’t so much of a overprotected toddler they should be fine. And let’s be real if they wan’t to play they game I don’t think the blood will bother them. But it’s such a good game and I recommend very highly.

Great game for kids 11+.

I think it’s a great game for 11 year olds and up. It is a historic representation of the mongol invasion of Japan and as such some cutscenes are of big battles and the like. A good way of judging whether a child is ready for this game is quite simply, if they are asking to play it they will probably be fine. It also has such a fantastic story that I actually enjoyed watching. Highly recommend

10+ phonomenal

yes this game has some violence but there is no gore there is just blood splatters when you defeat someone with your sword and you can turn that off in your settings anyways. there is infrequent curse words of bastard damn and shit but nothing major and it only swears roughly around once an hour or two which is fine compared to a movie and there is no sex or nudity and i cannot understand how this game was rated 18 maybe 16 but DEFINITELY not an 18 this game is also entertaining and shows signs of strong role models defending their land which has been taken over this game is 5 stars and i would let anyone above 10 play this

I Have too many reasons to love it.

This game, even though based on a historic event, was not meant to be accurate, the basic mechanics of the game is something that fits the theme and the playstyle of the character. I have a video on why I love it. https://youtu.be/mM5gMNmdjO8

Great game, not 16 but still violent.

This game is awesome, the gameplay is BEAUTIFUL, the scenery is better than in any game I've ever played. The reason I rated it 14 was violence. This game has a setting to turn off blood but not in cutscenes. The cutscenes can be very severe for younger kids, but other than that it is a fine game for anyone who wants good combat and story.

Pure Masterpiece

AMAZING, I cannot stress this enough, this game is a masterpiece. Along with that it isn’t violent, it’s only bad thing is that swords can have blood on them, but you can turn off blood.
