Very fun 1st person shooter.
First of all. Some parents may hesitate to buy this game for their kid(s). You go to the store and your son asks for this game, you look at the back and see the "M" rating. Blood and gore, intense violence, and language. You say no. You go home and decide to look into it more. I'm telling you this. THIS GAME IS A ZOMBIE GAME. YOU CAN NOT KILL OTHER HUMANS. You use a variety of weapons such as Pistols, Shotguns, Assault rifles, hunting rifles, Malatov cocktails and pipe bombs. Yes it is violent but you have to remember you are killing zombies in self defense. YOU CAN NOT HARM OTHER HUMANS. There is some swearing. S**t and d**m are the worst. There is no f words. The only time I hear swears are when I accidentally shoot the other survivors. You can not harm them but they do get mad at you. This game may be scary for kids. You can hear scary piano music in the background and the muffled sobs and screams of a zombie witch. Blood and gore are not that bad you can blow off limbs but I don't see any blood because it is so dark most of the time. A very large zombie called the Boomer explodes in a cloud of blood and bile that attracts a horde of zombies when you shoot it. Some people may say there is drug reference because pain pills can be taken to boost the characters health... This game isn't bad and is one of the greatest zombie games. It is over rated. I think it deserves a "T" rating. Oh and there is no sensuality and no sexuality. The characters barely talk in the campaign.

Amazing zombie survival game has constant gore!
Left 4 Dead is the first entry in the zombie survival genre that the game company "Valve" has created! Its packed to the brim with amazing campaigns, missions and game modes, but your question may be "Is it packed to the brim with mature content?". In this review I will answer that question in 3 categories (since sex, drugs and alcohol aren't present".
VIOLENCE: In Left 4 Dead, players are usually tasked with one thing: To shoot everything in sight and make it to the safe room. When a zombie is shot, their heads can pop off along with their arms and legs, and their body can be shot into causing gapes and holes. This is always shown with an overwhelming amount of blood, and depending on the weapons the gore and blood will raise and lower.
In the opening cinematic, stylized and more intense violence is shown in more quick and realistic way.
The enemy called a "Boomer" will explode into massive bloody pieces on impact.
Overall, the violence is pretty strong, which I wouldn't say about many games.
LANGAUGE: Infrequent use of "Shit" and "Damn", which can be hard to hear whenever it shows up.
FRIGHTENING SCENES: The game is very creepy in atmosphere, and the zombies are quite scary especially witches.
OVERALL: 14+ is recommended

Left 4 Dead is a first person shooter that is rated M (age 17+)
It's a first person shooter based off a zombie horror film, and is in no way appropriate for gamers under 17. Young gamers can be easily startled by the decapitation of Infected via weaponry and gunfire. The Infected in general may appear to be frightening for kids. The dialogue contains some strong language; “damn”, “piss”, “s--t”, etc., but the “F word” is usually censored. While a competent Survivor, much like Zoey or Bill, can withstand a zombie invasion, a rather incompetent one, such as Francis, may need help from a skilled ally. Francis can be a bully to Louis sometimes, but Louis is quick to snap back. Spoiler Alert: Bill dies in “The Sacrifice” as he does not return in Left 4 Dead 2's “The Passing”. Ironically, until Left 4 Dead 2, Louis is the only African-american playable as with Zoey being the only female. Louis, Zoey and Francis's fates remain unknown after “The Passing”.

Don't care, you should be 17, and up
Kids just ruin rated M games, no adult wants to go into an online match to hear some 8 or 10 year old, run their mouth on voice chat, or just starts whining and raging. Honestly just introduce them to Nintendo related things in the mean time until they come to the age of 17+

...
This game is very entertaining. My two children play this who are 12 and 18. They both know it's not real and don't have nightmares or anything like that. This game may be fun but they curse ALOT. Which include f--k, and b----h. Those words I don't like, which is why I don't like them playing all the time. And super violent. So many weapons, too much. Overall good game but at time disturbing.
