Mario looks awesome in 3D!

Everyone's favorite plumber is back! But this time, his attempt to save Princess Peach is in 3D! And the game is really simple to learn (as with other Mario games). But parents, if you do have children ages 6 or under who want to play this game, just make sure that the 3D on the 3DS is off. It'll keep their eyesight safe! Anyway, this game is a real treat for die-hard Mario fans!

Mario On the 3DS

Super Mario 3D Land combines all of the past mario games. This game is similar to Super Mario 64 in that you need to collect star coins to unlock levels, it is akin to the original version for the nes and snes in that at the end of the levels you have to jump to the top of a pole as well, and some of the levels are similar to Super Mario Sunshine. However, there are many more similarities than these that I will not mention in this review. The game is simple collect star coins from each level in order to unlock future levers and finish the particular level you are on without dying. The storyline is simple Bowser kidnaps Princess Peach and you have to go on a quest to save her from the clutches of Bowser. The only violence is the typical violence you get with a Mario game. This controls for this game are simple and will be picked up quickly. Overall, this is a good family wholesome game that anyone can play and have fun.

It's-a Mario again!

Mario returns in another family friendly adventure, this time for the Nintendo 3DS system. It has the usual basis for Mario games, the altruistic protagonist, goes on a grand adventure to save those in need. It is bright, colorful and engaging for your tweens, but don't expect your teens to be too impressed with it, as it's aimed at younger players. The game requires multiple replays to unlock all the hidden items, and should give your tweens a good amount of playtime. As with some 3DS titles, and with the 3DS itself, the online aspect can pose some privacy issues if you don't watch your kids. Remember, the 3DS has an internet browser and can even access online movie services if you subscribe, so be sure to set up your parental blocks. PETA has recently made a stink about the fact there is a 'Tanuki Suit' in the game, in which Mario dresses up in a mascot-like tanuki suit to gain the power of flight. It is all for publicity and there is absolutely no tanuki or animal related violence in the game. PETA, on the other hand, made their own version which you should under NO circumstances allow your children to play or see.
