I disagree with common sense media

When I saw it I found it very tense and good as you understand the struggles of the hostages, SAS, Police and Max Vernon(the negotiator). There is language however when the hostage is killed the camera looks at the Hostage taker pulling the trigger. You can hear the bangs and some blood after however I don't believe that deserves to be a 16+ as in the Avengers films and Harry Potter there is blood and they are both a 12.However when the other people die I cannot remember any blood being shown you can see them evidently die but apart from that I cannot remember any more blood being shown. At some parts it has cigarettes however in the 1980s a lot of people smoked so I feel that is actually quite factual and it feels that you are watching the events unfold in May in 1980 just in better resolution. If your 12+ child likes a military force i feel they would really enjoy the film.

Ok but kinda violent

This film is pretty tense, but its ok. There is some violence when people are shot and when terrorists take over an embassy. There is also a LOT of swearing.

One of the best movies I've seen! Don't know why common sense media media hates it.

There is quite a bit of swearing and there isn't much violence, but it's intense.
