“Oh, I’m so very, very sssssssoooorrrr- f*** you!”
A Fish Called Wanda is a 1988 comedy film directed by Charles Crichton and John Cleese and starring John Cleese, Kevin Kline, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Palin and Maria Atiken.
Language(4/5): The film has 18 uses of “f**k”, 8 uses of “a**hole”, 4 uses of “l**ey”, 2 uses of “s**t”, “d**k”, “son of a b**ch” and “a**”, and 1 use of "fr**ts", “t*ts”, “J*s*s”, “G**”, “piss”, “bastard”, “hell” and “buggering”. The film has 46 total curses.
Sex, Romance and Nudity(3/5): A man’s rear end is briefly exposed. A man briefly grabs a woman’s breast while she is clothed. Verbal sexual jokes are made, often about infidelity. Characters make out and kiss passionately. A woman is seen in a bikini and a man is seen in underwear.
Drinking, Drugs and Smoking(2/5): Smoking and drinking are briefly shown.
Violence(3/5): A man tries to kill an old woman multiple times, but accidentally kills her dogs in cartoonish ways. An old woman dies in a punchline. Characters are hit and guns are fired/used for threats. A man is kicked. A man suffocates.
Positive Messages: The film’s comedy outweighs any positive message.
Positive Role Models and Representations: None of the characters are aspirational and are all thieves, liars, cheaters and double-crossers. Otto has a hatred of English people.
Watching Experience: Nothing of note with my experience regarding mature content.
Quality(opinionated):
(My rating)

Great movie to watch if ur kids/teens are mature enough
Its a good movie, i would highly suggest it for teens. Its a too inappropriate for kids though. It does have a couple sexual scenes and some sexual humor.

Really Fun
this movie is really fun, with a bunch of sexual refences that will porbably go over little kids heads, there is a sex scene that is (although comedic) a bit racy, and you may have to skip, there is a good bit of swearing but not too much, there's also a bit of violence, and themes such as crime and betrayal, but as it's all portrayed comeidly it's not too bad.

Hilarious crime film
I watched this movie when I was 9 and found it hilarious, I'm from Britain so I was brought up on this sort of stuff but I guess children used to american comedy might not get a lot of the jokes. There's a fair smackering of violence, but it's generally slapstick and not too gory. Theres a five minute scene in which two characters are preparing to have sex (although they never actually do) and make lots of sexual remarks. Some nudity and swearing but nothing too bad. Obviously the whole point of the film is that the people involved are all awful so, tbh, CMS, I don't know what you were hoping for when you say that it has 'bad role models'. Overall, a terrific film, I seem to remember a pet fish getting eaten at some point which upset me as a 9 year old so ya know, whatch out for that. Hilarious.

Very funny, but be careful
This film is very entertaining, but it does not display any sort of good message or moral. I do think I was a bit too young to watch this movie, but I think other teens would very much enjoy it. There is a lot of swearing and sex related actions, but I really liked the film.

Awesome!
A fish called wanda is an absolute classic! The sexual content is sort of over the top sexually suggestive though. About 30 f-words and s-words. Sexual content is only really big issue. Great movie.

Funny But Cruel
Parents should know that this movie is overall very funny, but is also cruel at times, so it is not good for sensitive children. The language is fine, probably nothing your kid hasn't heard, and there is a lot of sex, but no nudity. The only part I find disturbing is that three dogs died, and you can see their dead bodies (but they look very unreal.) CSM says that you should not let your kids see it, but that is mostly because there are no positive role models, which I think is crazy of them because THAT IS THE WHOLE POINT OF THIS MOVIE!
So yeah, this movie is OK for your child's first R rated movie, unless they are sensitive or really love dogs. The dogs do die in a way that is supposed to be funny, but to me is was just cruel of the director to add that part.

Hilarious from start to finish
"A Fish Called Wanda" follows four diverse criminals who team up for a diamond robbery before banding against one another in the race for the loot. Along the way, one of the thieves, Wanda, manipulates mastermind George's barrister into getting George to plead guilty, only to find herself falling in love with the barrister. It's one of the all-time high-points of the career of writer and star John Cleese, but that's not to say the rest of the cast don't get their fair share of laughs: Kevin Kline's performance as the arrogant, stupid weapons man Otto is hilarious to the point of being infuriating! Highlights, of which there are many, include George's right-hand man Ken's bid to kill off the chief witness against George, and Archie trying desperately to conduct his affair with Wanda without interruption. Beware of sex and strong language, however.

Overrated and overdone
Maybe you'll disagree, but I just didn't think this was funny. Not John Cleese at his normal standards...
Parents should be careful - there's very strong language, a sex scene, the detailed killings of dogs and fish, mistreatment of people with disabilities etc.
