What's the Story?

The Loud family is getting ready to celebrate Halloween with an all-out haunted house extravaganza at the start of A REALLY HAUNTED LOUD HOUSE. When brother to many sisters, Lincoln (Wolfgang Schaeffer), announces he will forego his surprise finale at their Halloween show in order to attend a party at the most popular middle schooler's house, his family is disappointed. Lincoln and bestie Clyde (Jahzir Bruno) find out cool-kid Xander (Martín Fajardo) isn't so cool after all, and they'll be needed to help defend the Loud house after things go awry at the show.

Is It Any Good?

Our review:

This franchise is full of high jinks and goofy humor. Sure, the Loud siblings fulfill stereotypes in A Really Haunted House (the rock star, the weirdo, the smart one, etc.), as do Lincoln's friend group, but no character is so pigeonholed as to offend. Likewise, the potty humor and middle school social commentary will likely hit home for the film's target audience, but without grating excessively on that audience's elders. Speaking of elders, the very funny Loud dad (played by Brian Stepanek) nearly steals the show when he thinks he's becoming a werewolf. Happy Halloween.

Talk to Your Kids About ...

  • Families can talk about what Lincoln learns as a result of the shenanigans in A Really Haunted Loud House.

  • The boys consult the internet for ideas about expected behavior at a middle school party, and the popular boy they're trying to impress is constantly filming himself and sharing videos he hopes will go viral. Did this film's portrayal of middle schoolers' use of technology feel realistic to you? Why or why not?

  • What's your favorite holiday? Which holiday has the best movies? Why?
