What's the Story?

In AFTERMATH (2024), Eric Daniels (Dylan Sprouse) is an ex-soldier taking his younger sister to a movie. But while they're on a bridge, a group of ex-military fanatics explode it, leaving many civilians trapped in their cars on the bridge. They shoot anyone trying to escape. Police can't get to them. Can anyone save the day?

As a B action movie, this thriller feels like it accomplishes the bare minimum of what it sets out to do. The action and thrills in Aftermath (2024) are painfully standard, unfortunately. And the writing is a bit woeful at times, with some cringe lines here and there. The hugely uneven performances also bring this movie down, which is a shame, because Dylan Sprouse, at least, does a commendable enough job as the leading hero guy.

But the villain is so over the top, it's hard to take him seriously, let alone be scared of him. Further, the ending feels like it was hastily drawn, as it doesn't elegantly wrap things up. Thankfully, the pacing is swift. Before you know it, enough people die, the villain keeps yelling, plot points are forgotten, and then the villain just tries to leave.
