Parents' Guide to Agent Game

This standard, middle-of-the-road action film is entertaining enough, if you can overlook the fact that it co-stars Gibson. He's been out of the public eye for a while, and this film isn't completely a return to form for him, but some viewers might still second-guess a film with him in a lead role, given his history of hateful speech toward Jewish people, other minorities, and women.

Even if you can look past his participation, you might still find that there's not much meat to the film's story. The strongest actors are Mulroney and Isaacs; you get the sense that if the film had a stronger story centered around them, it could have been a much better viewing experience. That said, it's always great to see Abdi, who first made it big in Captain Phillips. Since that film, Hollywood has largely treated him as a novelty, not giving him a real chance to hone his craft. While Agent Game doesn't offer him much to do, it's still nice to see him share the screen with Isaacs and Ilsonzeh. Overall, this is the kind of film you'll already know the beats of if you're a fan of spy movies and thrillers. It doesn't really offer anything new to the genre, but it's fine if you just want a familiar story about an agent on the run.
