Cute, but gets a little intense

It has pretty good messages, and although it's evidently intended for kids, I can imagine that it may be a little too intense for younger kids. Messages : It addresses how people treat animals, including wild animals. Role models : The characters are all brave, and stand up for what's right. Violence : It does feature violence against animals; a couple of animals are shot, such as one that's shot and topples off a cliff. It's not extremely graphic, but it may freak younger kids out a bit. Sex : N/A Swearing : A few more mild curse words. Consumerism : N/A Drinking/drugs/smoking : One character is an alcoholic. You may be asking if the dog dies. SPOILERS, real quick. The dog doesn't die; HOWEVER, she's shot in the leg, and the scene where it happens was pretty intense. She continues to be slightly bloody and whimper a lot for a while, so it may be distressing.
