Hilarious movie that teaches kids about breakup.

In the exposition of the story it revolves around a high schooler who is crazy about his girlfriend, who isn’t really that interested in him. And then they breakup and he becomes devastated. It’s a story about typical breakup and moving on. It really isn’t that inappropriate but then again it does have some language and sexual innuendo. There is a scene in which the main character and his ex-girlfriend have sex, It doesn’t show any nudity but they are in the back of a car and it really isn’t that bad. It’s such a cool movie and hilarious. It’s a family movie only if you’ll allow your kids to watch a little raunchy movie.

Funny movie with dark humor and some mature content.

This movie was pretty funny, but there are several things that you might want to make sure of before your kids watch it. a) make sure they understand 80s humor. It is pretty confusing if you are not expecting it and if you are used to 21st century humor. b) they are aware why the main character keeps attempting suicide (these scenes are meant to be humorous and they are not very dark) and they are aware why it's supposed to be funny and IRATIONAL. c) They are well grounded in their own lives and are not going to reflect too deeply on some of the content to a degree where they imitate.
Overall, I really enjoyed this movie. The romance story was actually a pretty classic one under all the goofiness.
There was talk of sex (as the main character's foreign exchange neighbor is sexually harassed by the son she is staying with) but it is not explicit, and the younger brother of the main character is kind of edgy. He reads a book about picking up trashy women and later you see a lot of inappropriately dressed women in his room (although they are sitting there talking and playing music, not having sex).
Overall, this movie sounds very dark and inappropriate but things are portrayed in such a way that it is somewhat funny rather than dark. Still, I would not recommend this movie for children under 16.

great dramedy for mature tweens

This movie is a great story and teaches some good messages and some bad messages, it shows how suicide isn't always the best alternative, and it shows you how to boil bacon! there is a little bit of violence with the paperboy, and there's also the sword fight at the end! There is also a good bit of smoking because a lot of the characters smoke, Charles is kind of a drug addict, and the neighbors mom accidentaly drinks Primer, lights a cigarette and blows up ( But only gets minor injuries ), there is also swearing from a few of the characters! I think it was a great movie for mature tweens and teens who enjoy silly comedies!

Hmmm.....

This is an ok movie. However, talk to your kids about suicide beforehand. It has a bunch of talk about it. Also has some sexual language such as "t*******s". Only let your kids watch if they can handle it.

Good movie, but would be rated PG-13 today.

This movie is pretty good, to admit it. It's my mom's favorite. "Gee, Ricky. I'm really sorry your mom blew-up last night" LOL!
