Enjoyable thriller.

This movie was quite good, better than I expected it to be. I like Kate Bosworth which is one of the reasons I viewed it. All of the characters were likable and the actors chosen did a wonderful job. Black Rock is basically about three childhood best friends who, after much bickering, decide to go on a weekend camping trip on an island. Two of the friends (Abby and Lou) aren't talking and the main character Sarah (Kate Bosworth) tries to make the trip healing for both of them hoping they will come together again after a situation that happened between them 6 years ago. They soon overcome their hatred for each other after meeting three guys who suddenly show up during their quiet time together. They are three ex-military men (with guns) doing some hunting until one of the women invites them to stay for drinks. Abby ends up having too much and starts flirting heavily with one of the guys which leads him to almost rape her in the woods when they are alone, but she gets away by accidentally smashing his head on a rock and killing him. After the other two men find out, their intentions aren't pretty. Now the women must find a way to get out alive. The violence is strong and quite gory with lots of gunshots, running and chasing, biting, stabbing, dead bodies, injuries, a near-rape scene. Language is very strong with continuous uses of the f-word along with many other name-calling type curse words. Sexual content is not that bad and has no actual sex but a near-rape scene of making out that turns violent, two women take off their clothes to stay warm but all you see is backsides, side of the breasts, partial breasts when they're mainly squatting down. Some brief sex talk but nothing more. Drinking in the first half, a character gets drunk and hyper. Overall, it's a well made thriller and enjoyable (much like Eden Lake which is not on this site, but Eden Lake is way more brutal and thrilling - look up on IMDB). This one's okay for 17+ viewers.
