Literally has lesbian porn in it (not exaggerating). Which isn't relieved by the abuse allegations in the making of the film.

Extreme Explicit Sexual Content & Nudity which can be possibly triggering for young viewers.

It has explicit content and I don’t think parents should let kids watch it.

Great movie and if the kid who's watching it is mature enough to handle the themes and ideas then it should be no problem- just down to the kid. Just note a lot of lesbian sex. The graphic novel was much better for the record but not a bad movie..

So, I have a lot of feelings about this movie. On the one hand, it is truly a beautiful film, though it is obvious that it was directed by a straight male, with a great message of acceptance. On the other hand, it is shockingly explicit. There are many long, explicit lesbian sex scenes, and a couple straight ones too. You will see everything. Overall, it depends on the kid. I saw it when I was 15 and though I was not super sheltered, I was kind of shocked at how much sex they showed. Mature teens/16+ should be fine.
