Bring Him to Me
Parent and Kid Reviews
What's the Story?
In BRING HIM TO ME, a veteran getaway driver (Barry Pepper) and a rookie stick-up man (Jamie Costa) are summoned by their boss, Veronica (Rachel Griffiths), after a robbery goes too far. The long drive is fraught with tension as they are pursued by the father (Sam Neill) and son (Zac Garred) they robbed and the driver knows what's in store for his passenger when they reach their destination.
Is It Any Good?
This is an edgy thriller with a solid, central paranoia mystery and two likable main characters. A sense of danger runs throughout Bring Him to Me. This intensifies as the two criminals, on their way to see their boss after a robbery gets out of hand, near their destination. On the way, the duo -- simply referred to as Driver (Pepper) and Passenger (Costa) -- open up to each other and form a friendship that makes the countdown to the final showdown even more enticing. There's also some adrenalin-packed car chase scenes, as the vintage 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS speeds through the darkness. The direction is sleek and lets the performances shine as both cruelty and kindness bloom within the tense and twisting tale.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about the violence in Bring Him to Me. Did it feel over the top, too realistic, or was it at the level you expect from a film like this? Does exposure to violent media desensitize kids to violence?
Discuss the strong language used in the movie. Did it seem necessary or excessive? What did it contribute to the movie?
The main characters were career criminals. However, some did show kindness and compassion. Did this complicate your feelings toward them?
Have you seen any other movies in which a character has asthma? Do you know how to help if someone has an asthma attack?
