Is It Any Good?

Our review:

Loosely based on real events, this Indian action thriller is filled with torture, gunfire, and slaughter. Dhurandhar is a literal bloodbath, and its hypermasculine hero's journey falls in line with a new wave of Bollywood epics that rely singularly on weaponry, war, and brutality to entertain. At three and a half hours, however, the relentless violence and action sequences become repetitive—depending on your tolerance, either too much or simply dull. Director Aditya Dhar fails to develop any of the film's female characters, who remain practically non-existent with no meaningful roles or agency. Despite dealing with sensitive issues like terrorism and war, Dhurandhar lacks a sincere or thoughtful storyline. Instead, it's more concerned with romanticizing torture, aggression, and machismo without examining the consequences of such violence.
