Elizabethtown is an interesting movie about a man coping with failure at work and the death of his father. After all he's been through he contemplates suicide, and even goes to the point of figuring out how he will do it. The suicide is represented in a dark comedical way. There is some bad language in the movie (a couple f*cks and a few other words), and there is a couple sex/sexual reference, as well as some kissing. A few scenes show characters drinking to excess. This movie is somewhat slow, but I suggest giving it a chance. I thought the story was good, and the characters are appealing and thought-provoking.

Depends on the kid
I personally loved this movie! Although, it is marked under romantic comedy, for the most part it is a very deep and meaningful movie on finding yourself and dealing with loss. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone under 13 simply because they might get bored with how deep it is. Although there is implied sex and deep kissing along with the main character almost going through with and deciding to kill himself. other wise, its a great movie and very romantic and meaningful!

My Favourite
This is an amazing film. It centres around Drew, (Orlando Bloom) who is about to commit suicide before he's told his dad died in Kentucky. Out their he spends time with his relatives and meets Claire.
It is a feel good film with a great cast, Susan Sarandon, Alec Baldwin, Kirsten Dunst. It's soundtrack is amazing with Elton John and Tom Petty. Seriously, I could watch it every day.
If your child is okay with the suicide theme (which is portrayed slightly comically) then it should be fine. It has a good message about success and failure, what they mean. As Claire says ' have the courage to fail big and stick around.'
Personally, I adore this film but I can understand if it is a bit too slow or not your cup of tea, just give it a try, you may find that you love it too!
