Very good overall, but cameras are annoyingly shaky during action sequences
Overall, this is a great movie. The only thing I couldn’t get over was how shaky the cameras were. I could barely see a thing during the action sequences. There’s frequent language, some drugs, and some romantic content, and a lot of violence, including, but not limited to, someone’s face getting destroyed in an explosion. Has themes of keeping your loved ones close, and briefly talks about climate change and how humans are negatively affecting our planet towards the beginning.

Pretty good movie
Interesting watch I would just make sure you have some maturity and tolerance to violence.

Semi decent but could be better
A lot of people on here will come and say how absolutely brilliant this movie is. In reality, it’s not really that fantastic; there are some really cool effects, especially using that high movie budget, but the storyline leads a lot to be desired. It almost feels as if the director attempted addressing too many things without actually exploring any of it properly.
There are attempted backstories to some of the characters but you’ll still be often wondering where the connection is, who a certain character is, or the history behind certain elements. The cast do a good enough job at their roles but there’s still a lack of emotional connection to any of the characters.
The whole “Elysium” is almost moved aside for large portions of the movie in favour of trying to take the story somewhere else, and then tries to toss it back in. Two of the characters have a history of friendship, but this is briefly looked into and it tries to bring it back in as a factor throughout the film, but it just isn’t as relevant or meaningful as probably hoped, since it lacked any depth.
Violence is fairly brutal, I.e there are people blown apart in gory scenes, dome one gets their face blown up, shooting, and all the sci-fi action that comes with a film like this. There are references and threats of rape, which commonsense seems to have missed, though none of that is really followed through and sexualisation is kept at a bare minimum, which is quite welcome. In terms of role models, there aren’t too many fantastic options; the characters are perhaps more “realistic” than heroic, although by the end of the movie some character development has been achieved, and the main character does end up putting other’s needs in front of his own.
Overall, whilst not a bad film, Elysium does leave a lot to be desired. It seems to try to do too much without actually making any of it truly good, certain factors that might appear to be important are simply touched upon and are somewhat forgotten. I personally found the last third of the movie enjoyable, and i recommend trying the film out, but there are probably better films to watch

Gory, thrilling action movie not appropriate for younger kids
While this movie is pretty entertaining, I'd definitely not recommend it for kids. Firstly, the violence is extremely strong. Characters are not only shot and stabbed, but also blown to bloody pieces. Blood is seen frequently during fight seens. There is also a lot of gore (a character gets open surgery on his skull, a chracter's face gets blown off in slow motion) and brutal hand-to-hand combat. The script contains of almost only the f-word, with a few s-words. There is mild sexual references and mild drinking/drug use.

Pretty gory
This film said the "F" word frequently and had gory scenes in. My dad told me which scenes to look away at and why. Someone has their face blown up in strong detail. Someone has their throat slit. Aftermaths are seen bloodily. Several people get blown up. Someone has a mangled face (very gory) and makes his face new. The ending may upset sensitive viewers. Suitable for 10+ under STRICT guidance. Without looking away, 16+.

Disipointing and does not live up to district 9.But as all bloomkamps films its visuals are impressive. And has a really engaging story. Not really to violent though it is r rated its pretty tame though r movies arent to bad these days. If you liked district 9 as much as me elysium is a little dissipointing. But is worth watching and handles heavy topics.the launguage is not really bad some f bombs and other minor words.btw violence is bloody but stlized

It was ok
There was a quite a bit of language and a lot of violence. One guy gets his face blown up by a grenade and its not pretty when they show it up close. Big fan of Matt Damon but not necessarily of this movie.

Very creative, awesome and entertaining sci-fi movie
This movie is really creative and the people who made this movie put a lot of effort, but there is some gory sci-fi/fantasy violence and strong swearing.
Violence is towards humans and robots, this is about when in the future the Earth is not populated anymore but there was a planet called Elysium, however it was illegal for Earth people to vist the planet (There is no aliens in this movie) A man's mission is to make Elysium legal. The people turned a man into a cyborg because he is sent to kill a villain who is selfish. The main character had robotic armor on him. This movie is recommended for kids 11 years and older.

Gory
Really good movie, although not for kids. Contains strong bloody violence and gore throughout, including someone's SPOILERS face exploding. A lot of swearing and cursing. Rape is mildly implied.
