Oscar winner Davis is the standout in this fun but paint-by-numbers action thriller. Despite the plot touching on contemporary themes such as AI deepfakes and bitcoin, G20 offers nothing you haven't seen before from the likes of Die Hard, Air Force One, and Olympus Has Fallen. That's not to say there's nothing to enjoy. Who doesn't want to see Davis as the president of the United States one minute dealing with a moody teen and then the next violently taking out entire teams of mercenaries? But start to pick at the plot and it will quickly come undone. The ease with which Starr's terrorist leader orchestrates the takeover of a summit that includes 20 of the world's most powerful people is laughable, as are some of the villain's motivations. It turns out President Sutton is much better when fighting baddies than she is choosing whom to let into her inner circle. A decent Friday night popcorn flick that will soon be forgotten by Monday morning.
