Glitter & Doom
What's the Story?
GLITTER & DOOM follows two seemingly polar opposites: Glitter (Alex Diaz), an exuberant, flirty performer hoping to join a cirque troupe, and Doom (Alan Cammish), a moody singer-songwriter who wants to make it big. Together, they find love, acceptance, and support as they pursue their individual dreams. Songs by the Indigo Girls are at the heart of the musical.
Is It Any Good?
This romantic musical is unapologetically queer, which could help inspire LGBTQ+ viewers to be fully themselves, without shame. Glitter & Doom will likely feel especially meaningful for queer viewers in terms of having a romantic film that caters to them specifically. And the film's (spoiler alert) happy ending definitely seems intentional. Too many times, queer couples in film have unfortunate, sad endings. Here, Glitter and Doom find joy and a relationship with longevity—the perfect ending for a film that's all about celebrating yourself.
