What's the Story?
GROW is a whimsical tale of giant pumpkins, absurd sabotage, family love, and a spirited little girl who has an extraordinary connection to plants. In a small English town obsessed with pumpkins, Dinah (Golda Rosheuvel) begrudgingly takes in her estranged niece, Charlie (Priya-Rose Brookwell), just in time for the annual giant pumpkin contest. As fierce competition brews, unlikely friendships blossom and deep emotions take root, leading to the transformation of the town itself.
Is It Any Good?
Earnestly whimsical with a touch of absurdity, this is a sweet, heartwarming family comedy that holds its own "pumpkin" weight against the classics. Director John McPhail's knack for pulling viewers' heartstrings—combined with quirky characters, vibrant scenery, and a ton of fun—make Grow a truly joyful celebration of what a family film can be when it's done right. Rooted in emotional connection, colorful storytelling, and a lovable cast who deliver sincere performances, this big-themed yet funny film is a firm reminder that everyone has room to grow.
