What's the Story?

This film, its performers, and its action all try really hard. But while these efforts don't go unnoticed, Heart of the Hunter sadly still can't shake its problems. A lot of the film is poorly delivered, a bit confused, and jumbled. Sure, the action sequences and set pieces are decently choreographed, but the film fails to nail the basics, like smoothly telling its story, which, admittedly, is a bit contrived and convoluted. Confusing transitions, introducing too many characters one after another, and the complete omission of character development don't help things either.

There are just too many moving parts, logical mistakes, exposition dumps, and contrivances like the all-too-convenient things that happen to move the narrative on to the next scene (like when out of nowhere a gasoline truck rolls into the middle of a gunfight, allowing the previously trapped protagonist to easily escape after the truck blows up). Also, there are too many lines of dialogue that are incredibly clichéd. In total, every aspect of the film feels like a copy of existing spy thrillers or the television show 24.
