The R rating says it all
My friends and I were watching this movie. There was a romantic scene where boobs were shown, and they alluded to rape. The foul language is there but it's not what some movies have these days... plus, it's rated R so you have been warned. The violence is expected with the rating. These are immortals who kill other immortals by beheading them. Then the souls or power of the deceased enter into the surviving immortal. There is a lot of stupid violence in the movie. It's the, "I can't be killed so stab me as much as you want while I drink my beer." type violence.

Eh
Whilst the gore is basic, with cutting heads off being present but no real blood splatters. There is a lot of sexy stuff, the shadow usage hides a little but probably no enough- with nippers being viable as well as butt's. There's also mentions of r-pe which others haven't mentioned, so if that's really problematic (like it is for me) just be aware of it.
The plots kinda hard to follow in places, the time jumps can be confusing but overall its fine- its not amazing or anything like that though.

The film is good but I don't see how it is so violent no way it is an 18
Super good film lots of people's heads get chopped off but it was not terrible as it is really old

This is my favorite movie.
Highlander is an 80’s cult classic that is well loved. There is a little blood and a couple of decapitations that aren’t very gory. There is a little nudity, a woman stands up with a loose dress and there is a split second flash. Very hard to see. There is one darkened sex scene with butts exposed. Freaky villain psychopath who kills innocent people. Not that horrible. Common sense media exaggerates a lot. I know it kept my mom from letting me see this for a while, but when I did see it, I realized it was not that bad. I highly recommend it to anyone 11+.

Classic fantasy tale features decapitations as a main theme, but never shows graphic detail.
"Highlander" is a classic fantasy movie from the 80s, that was considered very violent at the time it came out.
The movie is also well-made and does feature great visuals (for the 80s).
The movie has some sexual references.
The violence is very brief and nothing compared to modern movie. There are many decapitations, but always bloodless, implied, from a distance or shadowish . I watched this movie as a 10-year old and i handled it. Not all 10 year olds will handle the movie, but i can say, that 12 year olds can easily handle it nowadays.

A great magic/myth film!
This film starring Christopher Lambert is very well-made! The only things that make it bad are a few medium gory decapitations (That is how the highlanders can only die), some non-gory violence, a sex scene with no nudity seen and infrequent cursing. So for ages 13 and up, go for it!
