there's many manuscripts/scrolls of the Bible in it's Hebrew language that we- to this day- can look at and trace to see how accurate the current text is. throughout history these copies show that the Bible has been translated accurately, so I don't really know what the reviewer for this is talking about with 'King James VI tampering with the text' as if that wouldn't be noticed by now. Plus, Jesus didn't teach that having money and power was wrong- just the love of it to where it's sought after more than Him is wrong. Which, sadly, a lot of megachurches do have a problem with, so I'm disappointed this movie didn't focus on a church/pastor losing its way and coming back to the original love of Jesus. If the movie was written by individuals who actually were Christian, perhaps it could've been a very poignant film for me, personally (especially with it highlighting the shallowness of commodified religion). So, although it raises good points, as a black american raised in church who's still Christian, I'd say pass- but for those not interested in Jesus, then I'm sure you'll get something more out of this film. (And maybe Common Sense can get reviewers who are actually Christian, please).

NOT a Family Movie!

VERY SEXUAL CONTENT - a husband and wife sex scene (no naked private parts) with dialog that implies a lot. This is not a joyful, happy movie. It has some humor but it is dark. It depicts the Black southern church very satirically; youth may not "get" that. Due to a subplot, this movie is one you must view WITH your teen, and do plan for a heavy discussion afterwards. It is definitely not a family movie.

Great movie, but not for people who are not ready to Accept Church Flaws

I know this was based on African American church culture but the issues raised in this Satire movie are universal. i thoroughly enjoyed the movie, I did laugh through it too The movie is definitely not for everyone but it is really good and accurate about the church culture nowadays, which as a Christian myself is sad. Some people maybe offended mostly because it exposes an ugly side and truths that churches would rather keep away from the public eye. It does have mature content so definitely watch it with kids over 17

Funny Movie but not for everyone

I think this movie was really well done. I was laughing hysterically at certain points. However, it's important to remember that this is a dark comedy. There are parts that are disturbing conceptually (nothing graphic is shown) showing the abuse of young, vulnerable people and misogyny. There is a sex scene that while no nudity is shown it is graphic in the facial expressions, heavy breathing, etc. I took my mom (who is a prude) to see the movie since she loves Sterling K. Brown from This is US. That scene was super awkward to watch with my mom. Also, if you loved the character "Randall" from This is Us be prepared that this a very different character played by Sterling K. Brown. My mom found it upsetting to see her "Randall" play a character that says and does some pretty messed up things. Overall I really enjoyed the movie. It confronts abuses that exist in some religious communities in a funny and unique way.

Honk for Jesus is a holy hit!

Honk For Jesus, Save Your Soul provides a funny but raunchy comedy for those who enjoy movies with positive role models and diversity. Nothing too graphic except for one small sex scene where they are clothed but make noises, and watch out for some cursing here and there.

Horrific movie total Garbage One of those you want to walk out of but you think Damn what do I do with all this popcorn???

Well this B Movie was very badly directed and the best part of the movie I have to say is when it ended. My wife fell asleep and I was more than happy to just let her sleep this one out. I don't agree with Common sense media's rating at 15+ unless you're comfortable watching a movie with your 15-year-old where the wife goes down on her husband at his request after they tried doggie style and normal positions and then he starts to masturbate. But that's Hollywood for you they are more than happy with you watching such things with your kids.
