Italy, baby: There's nothing quite like it, but when it comes to teen appeal, this comedy has too much baby and not enough Italy. Sure, I Don't Understand You has a few postcard moments—licking gelato in a piazza, walking down picturesque cobblestone alleys—that might stir a high schooler's wanderlust. But it's not enough to quite fill the pasta bowl. The movie's story centers on Dom and Cole's anxieties about potential parenthood—a theme that adults might spark to but teens are likely to find bland. And much of the second half leans darker as the humor takes a murderous turn. Misunderstanding is a classic setup for comedy, but here, laughing at tragedy may leave a taste as sour as bad wine.
