It's a pleasure to watch a film about a universally beloved human. John Candy: I Like Me had it in the bag with its subject alone. But the film doesn't rest on its laurels. Director Hanks has pulled together a vast array of clips, sound bites, and home videos, and woven these together with interviews with some of the last half-century's funniest comedians. Everyone from Bill Murray to Conan O'Brien, Catherine O'Hara, Steve Martin, Martin Short, Eugene Levy, and more speak unanimously lovingly about the human and the talent that was Candy. It's a resounding homage and an engaging film.
