Kings of Mulberry Street: Let Love Reign
Parent and Kid Reviews
What's the Story?
In KINGS OF MULBERRY STREET: LET LOVE REIGN, best friends Ticky Chetty (Liam Dunpath) and Baboo (Shaan Nathoo) are kidnapped, along with Chetty's grandmother. The kidnapper demands that the boys steal a valuable necklace in order to save Granny Chetty. But the necklace is in a hotel vault and guarded by security in an upscale hotel. How will they pull this off?
Is It Any Good?
There's fun to be had in this family comedy romp, led by two energetically lovable boys who need to save the day. For fans of the first film, this sequel, Kings of Mulberry Street: Let Love Reign, will be more of the same. Parents and adults again take a back seat to the kids, and their heist plan to steal a valuable necklace out of a hotel vault is creative and amusing. While entertaining throughout, the humor is a little thin, relying on some physical gags, a few innuendos, and several moments that poke at the stupidity of some adult characters. Also, as the first movie is supposed to serve as the introduction to this sequel, many viewers unaware of this fact might easily be confused. In other words, this sequel feels like it begins in the middle of another story, with characters that the viewer is already supposed to know about.
Further, most of the movie isn't all that believable, like when no parent or adult demands that everyone simply go to the police (instead of agreeing to commit a ridiculous heist crime) or when the luxurious hotel and manager easily agree to host a Bollywood show, being duped into believing that the boys and their family and friends are Bollywood superstars. Still, tweens are likely to find this movie funny and entertaining even if parents scratch their heads.
