What's the Story?

In MY FAULT, Noah (Nicole Wallace) leaves her hometown to move to the mansion of William Leister (Iván Sánchez), the new husband of her mother, Rafaella (Marta Hazas). There she meets her new stepbrother, Nick (Gabriel Guevara). Their personalities clash from the first moment, but their attraction will lead them into a forbidden relationship. Nick's taboo hobby, illegal racing, puts Noah -- whose biological father also raced before going to prison for domestic abuse and attempted murder -- in the crosshairs of Nick's rivals.

Is It Any Good?

Our review:
Parents say ( 8 ):
Kids say ( 14 ):

This soapy story has plenty of attention-getting elements -- a forbidden relationship, high society young people, illegal fights, car racing, gambling, and gangs. But because of jumbled plot lines, it doesn't come together very well. The movie feels like an odd mixture of elements from other films, including Fast & Furious, Fight Club, and Fifty Shades of Grey (without the BDSM).

My Fault is based on a best-selling book that first rose to popularity on the Wattpad platform due to its provocative bits, rather than the quality of the writing. The movie follows suit, with the script including some of the book's racier, more cringe-inducing elements (like the attraction between a 17-year-old girl and her 21-year-old stepbrother). Alas, My Fault's combination of improbable dramatic narrative and erotic sexual encounters doesn't even qualify as a guilty pleasure.
