Great Cinematography, acting and screenplay

The gorgeous cinematography, keen script, and oscar performance make this one of my favorite films in the last decade.

Overrated

Some great elements but not deserving of best picture. Some problematic parts of the making of the film but nicely shot. Felt a bit shallow and forgettable. Should have been a doc.

Deep, poignant, amazingly performed drama has mature themes; nudity

Nomadland is a 2020 Oscar-Winning film about a lady who’s in her mid 60s called Fern, who lives in a caravan. Although it is a fictional story, it is based on true events. Likewise, this isn’t a film for young ones. The violence is nothing major, but there is talk of a young man committing suicide, and a beloved old woman dies. A woman shouts at a woman. Fern gets upset when a character smashes on of her most valued possession. The entire tone of the film is depressing. Language is nothing major. A woman utters s- -t. Fern calls another woman “bitch.” At the start of the film, Fern pees in public in a bush. While there’s no sex, nudity is moderate. Fern lies in the river, naked. Her breasts, abdomen, and vagina are shown. We see Fern do business on her toilet. We see little of her butt. Drinking, drugs and smoking are also moderate. Fern is seen smoking a lot. Drug stores are seen. In one scene, when Dave makes a toast, they hold up wine glasses. There is also some product placement. Fern works for Amazon. A character mentions 7/11. If your considering taking your kids to this movie, I would recommend this for 14 years and up.

Does not deserve the R rating

This is a BEAUTIFUL movie. this movie is ok for 10 and up. but you cannot fully grasp the beauty of it unless you are a little older. there is a fully nude scene of the main charachter (very brief)I just shut my eyes for it because it will make younger boys uncomfortable.

Meh

I can't believe this movie won best picture. I thought that Minari or The Father should win Best Picture. The movie is very slow and boring. Its also lacking plot. People will say this movie is good because of two things. One: Cinematography. There are some beautiful shots in the movie that totally deserved best Cinematography. Two: The messages. They talked a lot about how to deal with loss and how to move on. At the end, I still have to research on what the whole movie point is.

Nomadland

I have no idea how people liked this movie or how this won best picture. This whole movie was a snooze fest and a horrible ad for amazon. The characters were dull and this whole thing was plain out boring. The beautiful cinematography didn’t make up this horrendous movie. I don’t recommend this movie and I would not listen to the good reviews about this because if I knew it was going to be this bad I would have never watched it. I am writing this review angrily because I wasted almost 2 hours of my life on some stupid movie that doesn’t deserve any award. I’m into movies that are contemporary but this one was just horrible.

Amazing movie, but can be a bit slow.

This movie is made in a really interesting style in which it shows a part about life that's not generally treated in movies. It has a great message and great characters. The movie is very slow since it doesn't really have a very normal movie layout. It treats and shows more of the average part of the day of a nomad. While most movies have a plot that is movie-ish this movie shows you the life of someone, and a story that's very easy to consfuse for a real one. It can be a bit slow for a kid and will get boring but for a teenager I think it's a good movie to watch. I gave it 13+ because of this since it doesn't really have anything seriously innapropiate. The only scenes you might want to be aware of, is one 2 in which the main characters poops. Several smoking and drinking scenes. Swearing but rarely. And one scene where she takes a dip in a lake, and you can see her breasts and pubic hair. There's also talk about PTSD, suicide and cancer. Some comments say there's sex and swearing but that's not true at all. There's none of these scenes.

Amazing movie!

This movie is absolutly beautiful! The realisation is amazing, there are lots of impressive shots. Interesting for anyone who's a movie lover. This movie abords quite serious themes like poverty and ageing but it's also filled with great messages. It shows a side of life that's not often showed in other movies and it can be really interesting to watch it with your kids and have a talk with them about what they understand from it. It may be a bit slow for younger kids and a bit heavy too since they probably won't understand what the adults are talking about in the movie but for a teenager who tries to developpe their critical thinking and is interested by deeper and more serious film, it is a great movie that I highly recomand! (A few scenes might be a bit less appropriate for kids like one where you see the main character to the loo but it's not graphic. There are a few swear words but nothing too bothering.) PS: I see comments saying the movie is violent and has a lot of sex scene. To be ignored, there is no violence or sex scenes in this movie.
