One of Park's best

Park Chan-wooks revenge thriller is brilliant, twisted and brutal. Contains frequent strong violence, sex and mature sexual content.

Oldboy is an extremely violent revenge story by Korean director Park Chan Wook

First off, this film is not for kids. The violence is brutal and graphic, with a man getting his teeth ripped out, someone cutting his own tongue off, and many bloody fight scenes. There is also a very graphic sex scene which is made extremely disturbing by later information. SPOILERS - Near the end of the film, the main character finds out that the woman she has been having sex with was actually his daughter. This makes many prior scenes very uncomfortable Overall, Oldboy is a revenge masterpiece, but not for kids.

Great film

Look, if you think realistically here most children are not gonna bother with this one. Its not in English, hardly mainstream and quite hard to understand plot wise (for a child). You don't have to worry about your child and this film because chances are if they ever see it the will probably switch it off after the first few minutes. Nothing hear is really "mentally scarring" so even if your kid did see a certain scene it should not matter. A 17 rating is quite harsh, considering in South Korea it was given a 15 rating upon release.
