With even fewer surprises in store than its generic predecessor, this action sequel reunites audiences with Adkins' high-kicking, sure shot hero, Navy SEAL Jake Harris. Just as in 2021's first film, One More Shot, Jake's exploits are followed by swooping and scanning camera work in an unbroken take, as he fights his way through a mercenary-infested airport while the threat of a dirty bomb detonating ticks away in the background. He's even on the same mission (sort of), protecting the same prisoner, this time from black-clad baddies who want to grab the suspected terrorist and extract maximum value from the highest bidder. Between a terror plotline that feels 20 years out of date to a setting and some twists that bear more than a passing resemblance to Die Hard: With a Vengeance, it becomes increasingly difficult to care whether Jake will save the day. Adkins throws himself into proceedings with the same admirable commitment as ever, but even one shot feels like one too many this time around.
