Beautiful, sad, violent Pixar movie may be too intense for kids

Pixar’s onward film is here and here is my review on it. The movie is really beautiful because it shows team work between two brothers who go on a road trip to bring back their dad. This movie may have beautiful but is still intense. May be too intense. With lots of “fantasy” violence. Basically lots of explosions and peril. But it’s still okay for kids but please talk to your kids first before seeing the movie. This movie also has upsetting scenes and moments that could leave your kid sad. Not going to spoil anything but definitely a sad movie. Overall, Pixar nailed this film with it’s beautiful animation. It’s a great film to watch as a family!

Sweet brotherly tale about dungeons and dragons

I love how Pixar took a "dungeons and dragons" approach to a film. It was beautifully animated, and it had a nice plot. It was about family. Also, I love the twist at the end. It was incredibly sad though. I wont spoil any of the movie. Enjoy!

Everything you need to know Onward

Onward is one of the Pixar’s funniest and emotional films ever made. It is the first Pixar film not produced by John Lasseter. Set in a suburban fantasy world, two teenage elf brothers, Ian and Barley Lightfoot, go on an journey to discover if there is still a little magic left out there in order to spend one last day with their father, who died when they were too young to remember him.

Onward was first announced at the 2017 D23 Expo as "The Untitled Pixar Film That Takes You Into A Suburban Fantasy World" and was described as a story about two brothers seeking to reconnect with their late father set in a human-free world of elves, sprites, trolls, dragons and "anything else that would be painted on the side of a van in the 1970s", with unicorns being depicted as common pests and dragons are pets. On December 12, 2018, it was announced that the film will be called "Onward" and will also be based on Dan's relationship with his brother. It was announced that Scanlon will co-wrote the screenplay with Zootopia and Moana animator, C.S. Anderson. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds an approval rating of 86% based on 227 reviews, with an average rating of 7.12/10. The website's critics consensus reads: "It may suffer in comparison to Pixar's classics, but Onward makes effective use of the studio's formula -- and stands on its own merits as a funny, heartwarming, dazzlingly animated adventure." On Metacritic, the film has a weighted average score of 62 out of 100, based on 44 critics, indicating "generally favorable reviews". Both Chris Pratt and Tom Holland have roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Pratt played the role of Star-Lord and Holland performed Spider-Man.
This marks the second Pixar film to feature Julia Louis-Dreyfus in a voice role, after previously voicing Princess Atta in A Bug's Life in 1998. I don’t ever watched a movie but it is funny and traumatizing. If you’re a Marvel fan, you may enjoy this. It does rip-off of Hercules and Smurfs. These elves reminds me of Na’vis from Avatar. Here’s some parents guide. Yes it’s rated PG

Sex/Nudity: None - Barely shows plumber's crack in one scene. Spector (one of this movie's minor characters) says she has a girlfriend. This indicates that she is lesbian.

Violence/gore: Mild - After trying to bring the dad back legs was shown but there is no gore spilling out. A dragon menaces the town and our heroes in particular. It is sliced up by a side-character but it is made of rock so there is no gore.
Some skeletons are seen in a sequence where the heroes have to outrun several traps and a giant gelatinous cube.

Profanity: None - Disneyish language and “screwed up”

Alcohol, Drugs, and Smoking: None

Frightening and intense scenes: Mild - A dragon menaces the town and our heroes in particular. It is sliced up by a side-character but it is made of rock so there is no gore.
Some skeletons are seen in a sequence where the heroes have to outrun several traps and a giant gelatinous cube.

Soul is the next Pixar movie will release June 19, 2020. It’s not Inside Out rip-off.

Here’s some my top 5 Pixar Masterpieces:

5. WALL-E
4. Toy Story
3. Finding Nemo
2. Inside Out
1. Up

May be too heavy for anyone under about 10-11

Most parts can be a bit over the top and scary for some viewers, there are scary monsters (Plus its animation...so its creepy enough) a few low Leveled violent scenes such as dangerous magic used on some characters and fight scenes which kids can hide under the covers for
Language..not that bad, about the same as monster house, a few insults quite repeatedly, a few nearly bad words said like F--k S--t and B*tch (For example... What the...son of a...and holy...) but non are used. Boyfriends and girlfriends shown hugging, kissing and flirting but only in one scene

Good kids movie but the scary ness NEARLY made it scarier than it follows, It will be a good choice but keep it away from sensative kids

Another good Pixar movie

This movie is really wholesome and has really good messages for kids. Like almost every Pixar movie, it can make you tear up a bit and you can tell how much thought the people creating this movie put into it.

Ending was dissapointing

SPOILER ALERT: My sister was having anxiety through this whole movie for the ending to be complete trash. Having dread the entire movie to have the ending not rewarding for the character you were rooting for the whole movie is super frustrating.

Really nice entertaining movie !

It’s a really good movie but there slot of scenes that are not suitable for younger than 6 yrs old and some brief swearing scenes in the movie but the story is really original and good the cute tees look wired but they’re really nice and funny in the movie and if your children or you like Disney movies with songs and musicals this is Disney movie for you cause there is no songs at all sang by the characters it also a heartwarming and wholesome movie I have no complaints from it. It’s just perfect

Another great achievement by Pixar

Onward is One Of the Greatest Pixar Movies I've ever seen, although there is a lot of violence and scariness it teaches a lot of valuable lessons and messages. It's very sad and dark for few moments but it''s also very entertaining to watch with families (10+). This movie really touches the hearts of the audiences and gives out many feelings and emotions but it really was satisfying to watch and it was worth watching it.

Great Pixar Film!

If you are a fan of Pixar, not watching Onward is considered missing out. Onward is entertaining and an emotion rollercoaster. I recommend this for ages 16 and up because there was a gang being shown. Great film!

Another great, well written, expertly animated, original film from Pixar

Onward is a super fun fantasy adventure that deals with the theme of loss. It is beautiful and funny. It may make a lot of audiences cry. It is still one of the most touching and personal films that Pixar has made.
