Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom
Parent and Kid Reviews
What's the Story?
OVERLORD: THE SACRED KINGDOM follows the Sacred Kingdom's armies as they prepare for war. The Evil Lord of Wrath, Jaldabaoth (voiced by Sean Letrouneau), maims and kidnaps the Sacred Kingdom's princess and brings his demon army to attack them. The Sacred Kingdom is unprepared and not strong enough to fight back, so they ask the Nation of Darkness's Sorcerer King, Momonga (voiced by Christopher Guerrero), for assistance. He agrees to personally fight alongside them to restore justice and peace to the Sacred Kingdom. The story follows these gory battles and upsetting betrayals.
Is It Any Good?
This dark fantasy is best for fans of the franchise. Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom is filled with multiple plots and too many characters to focus on. The plot moves slowly, with too many separate moving parts, which leaves the viewer forgetting the characters' goals. It's visually appealing, but the amount of violence feels unnecessary to the plot. It seems like its creators focused on quality animation, but forgot to connect the separate parts together to create a more cohesive story.
