Unnecessarily scary scenes ruin what could have been children's movie.
This movie initially looks like a fantasy movie but there are some worrying and scary parts including the use of the word 'assassins' and seeing Pinocchio hanging in a noose from a tree by the neck. These parts are not needed.

It isn’t Disney, but it’s a great movie
I think most people are too used to Hollywood’s way of making films. I am too. That’s why I love when I find a movie from a different country that fills both my expectations as art and as entertainment. It’s disturbing, indeed, but that’s one of the bets things it has. Movies aren’t supposed to be dumb, even if they are for kids. Kids aren’t stupid, and it’s the parents job to explain it is fantasy and reflect about the messages it contains, that aren’t few. The acting is AMAZING, the photography, and the story. I don’t remember the details of the movie by Disney, but I don’t even want to. I think it’s a great movie and I was just expecting to find some recognition from the audience for what I think is an amazing work of art. This Pinocchio film is a closer, incredible interpretation of the original story and that has a great value. My recommendation is to open the minds and enjoy accepting a different type of deeper entertainment.

DONT WATCH
I watched this movie with my mum and friend because it got really good reviews on rotten tomatoes. Why they gave it such a good review I have know idea. In my opinion everything about it is trash. First of all way to scary for young kids. Pinocchio was literally hanged with a noose on a tree and left to die by thieves, now I don’t have a Great memory but I don’t think this happened in the animated version. Pinocchio also turned into a donkey and was tied to rock and dropped of a cliff to drown. I’m pretty sure if I was a kid I’d be extremely scared watching this seen. SO IN CONCLUSION DO NOT WATCH THIS MOVIE YOU’LL REGRET IT!

NIGHTMARES: Hanging of child. Animal drowning.
Although this movie is well done, there are several disturbing scenes. For example, two evil men chase Pinocchio in a dark field at night. They capture him and use a rope to hang him from a tree. The men sit at the base of the tree and talk about waiting for Pinocchio to stop breathing so they can steal his gold coins. Although Pinocchio is a puppet, he looks and acts like a child. Seeing a small body hanging from a tree while slightly gasping for air made my daughter cry and gave her nightmares. This movie is not for children under 14.

Sinister and creepy
I honestly would say it should be a 12. It's so creepy, there's a scene where the boy (Pinocchio) is hung by his neck from a tree. Never mind the kids I don't think I'll sleep tonight.

3.5 stars
When we went to see this movie it was rated PG-13. I see some comments mentioning PG rating so I’m not sure if it was changed. IMO, PG was appropriate. To be clear though, PG does mean that it’s not neccassirily for children. So I don’t think it should have been assumed to be ok for a 2 or 4 year old. I think the issue is people think of disney story of Pinnochio, when the actual real story is quite dark, as in this movie. To put it in perspective, the hanging was of a wooden puppet and the donkey was lame so putting it down is not something cruel. I watched Glass last night and to even suggest that pinnochio have the same rating of PG-13 as Glass is absurd. It is PG but PG doesn’t mean it’s made for kids.
Whether intended or not, rating aside, I don’t think it would appeal to young children. The movie does come across as artsy, so as an adult I appreciated the fine details and overall message. Peer pressure, poverty, disobeying and disappointing your loved ones, forgiveness and second chances, making bad decisions, being a follower, Thinking of others, hard work, and child exploitation by adults were clearly showed. I think my 16 year old would have liked the movie more than my younger ones. The main issue is the movie does a good job explaining the lessons in pinnochio, but has a hard time finding the audience that will appreciate it.

Pretty lame
Many unneeded acts of violence and child had difficulty understanding their strong accents.
Is this the time where it’s ok to hang a child from a tree? Is it ok bc the boy was “white”?

Garrone's Pinocchio is visually stunning
It's a Pinocchio with great characters, prosthetics and special make-up, The scene of hanging Pinocchio isn't that disturbing and to miss the rest wouldn't be the right choice IMHO.
My daughters were 10 and 12 yrs old, just some talking and they enjoyed the movie .
