What's the Story?

PSYCHO-PASS: PROVIDENCE takes place in a futuristic society in which law enforcement augmented by AI technology assigns people scores based on their mental state and personality traits, measuring people's criminal potential. Inspector Akane Tsunemori (voiced by Kate Oxley in the English dub) has been questioning her role in this system. Reunited with her former work partner, Shinya Kogami (Robert McCollum), she investigates a new murder case and stumbles upon a secret that reveals surprising truths about Japan's government.

Our review:
Parents say : Not yet rated
Kids say ( 1 ):

This combat-heavy sci-fi detective film doesn't hold up as a stand-alone movie and is best viewed as extra content and context for fans of the earlier films and TV show. Psycho-Pass: Providence makes clear the question the series is trying to answer: How do we create a just and perfect future society? Unfortunately, it doesn't really provide a complete answer. The plot is mostly easy to follow, but if you haven't watched the rest of the series, the emotional beats feel pretty hollow. That said, fans looking for extra content will likely appreciate the insights into Akane's character development and the extra details the previously untold story reveals.
