What's the Story?

RAD follows the underdog story of high schooler and passionate BMX biker Cru (Bill Allen), who is on a journey to win when a big-time BMX race called Helltrack arrives to his small town of Cochrane. But when corporate corruption and cheating try to sabotage his small-town dreams, Cru must overcome personal challenges and obstacles bigger than the $100,000 prize.

The film's campy 1980s nostalgia, featured BMX stunts, and underdog heart form a winning combo in this classic cult sports drama. One part simple underdog story, one part rocking soundtrack, and one part pioneer of BMX culture in film, this easy-to-watch and easy-to-digest story shows off the best of Gen-X childhoods on screen.

While the lingo might not have aged well, the real-life bike stunts and tricks have. This light, feel-good film highlights relatable, deeper messages that still ring true today, like the importance of balancing dreams and expectations, the value of hard work and perseverance, and integrity. Bill Allen is the epitome of 1980s small-town hero, aided by authentic visuals and catchy music.
