Seven Snipers
Parent and Kid Reviews
What's the Story?
In SEVEN SNIPERS, mother and farmer Kris (Radha Mitchell) is forced back into her old life as an elite sniper when she is tracked down by a former associate (Tim Roth) with unfinished business.
Is It Any Good?
This Australian action thriller blends family drama and relatable characters with a tense, long-range siege scenario. The sniper theme is used to great effect in Seven Snipers, never letting up on the lingering threat of unseen shooters as two tactical teams face off in the Australian countryside. Mitchell is believable in both of her character's roles, whether she's a tough farmer raising her kid or the leader of a team of killers. She embodies both brilliantly, even when the two merge and blur. Roth, however, nearly turns the ruthless Dragon into a cartoon villain, while the tactical team members remain underdeveloped. But there is still much to enjoy in this tense, rural, human-hunting trip.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about the violence in Seven Snipers. How did it make you feel? Was it shocking? Thrilling? Or both? Does exposure to violent media desensitize kids to violence?
What made Kris feel believable—or not—as a sniper? How did her portrayal compare to other female action characters you've seen?
Discuss the strong language used in the movie. What did it contribute to the film? Is a certain kind of language expected in a movie like this?
