What's the Story?

SOMETHING TO STAND FOR WITH MIKE ROWE is a historical documentary-style compilation of lesser-known stories of U.S. history. Narrated by Mike Rowe and presented as history wrapped in a mystery, the film compiles compelling stories about events from the American Revolution to the Civil Rights movement, with segments from Rowe's present-day road trip to Washington, D.C., as well. It's all presented with patriotic pride about what the featured folks' sacrifices contributed to making the country what it is today.

Consider this inspiring documentary to be historical therapy. From Dirty Jobs to a not-so-squeaky-clean take on U.S. history, Rowe has a talent for appealing to many Americans' patriotic side by telling imperfect stories perfectly. Something to Stand For is a reminder/plea to remember the people who've made significant sacrifices for their country -- and to perhaps reevaluate our own views on what patriotism means. The movie's mystery twist makes this walk down American history lane exciting, as does Rowe's compelling narration and honest, earnest call to action.
