A So-So Movie

Sounder is about the Morgans, a family of poor black sharecroppers in the Depression-plagued South. They struggle to find enough to eat even with their hunting dog, Sounder. When father decides to steal food, he is captured by police and sent to prison. His wife, Rebecca is left to care for their son, David while Boy sets off on a journey to find father. Actors and Actressess: Boy is a perfect example of a young man struggling without his father. The wife is a fantastic actress who captured the look of a wife trying to raise kids without a husband. Father is a great actor who showed even in tough times you can still get home. Language: There is one use of the N word but put in there to show how the world was segregated and unfair back then. There is also one use of the D word but nothing horrible. Violence: To me the violence was a little extreme. Multiple deaths, also scenes of slaves chained together and working at a camp. Boy thinks about stabbing a man. Man crushes cake that Mama had made for Father, Deaths: Two main characters pass away. The emotion really punches you in the gut. In all this movie was great but also had some down sides.

So sad and moving

Wow, this is such a good movie! It's very sad and the end isn't the usual "then everyone lived happily ever after!" This has such a sad ending that could make anyone cry. Even if you're not crazy about animals, this movie is sure to make you very sad. It is a bit violent, and younger viewers may find it hard to watch, but it's very good and worth seeing. Parents, make sure you know your child is ready for a movie like this, because it is very sad and sometimes it's hard to watch.
