Super 8

This was 'Super Gr8'. Abrams kept the storyline too secret, so it has danger in the box office. This is a sci-fi epic, so tons of action violence. There is a disturbing zombie short made by the kids. The characters risk their lives to save each other. Some flirting, a kiss. 1 f***, and multiple uses of other profanity. 7-Eleven (an advertising partner) is seen once. One character says he is 'stoned', and some characters drink beer. This was amazing.

Good movie Bad language

Super 8 is a Heavy action flick, but is not all that scary there is some blood but not allot of it. It does however have language that is very inappropriate for anyone to be using such as F__k, S__t, P___y, J____s, D__k, and the like.

MY FAVORITE!!!!!!!!!!

Favorite Movie Ever! But plenty of scary parts- The mom dies, they don't show it, the dad arrests someone that in a way caused the mother's death, a major train wreck, a ball twists around and shoots through the wall, at a gas station, the alien squishes a police car and grabs a worker, lights go on and off all the time, the army starts a fire, they watch a scary tape showing the alien, gory zombie videos, explosions, the alien is spotted from a graveyard, the alien tips over a bus and kills a bunch of men, they go into the aliens hole to get Alice back (and the alien also is shown taking Alice) and still more. But that makes it the great movie it is.

One thing wrong with this film.

Vomit. A film that vomits twice and has absolutely nothing to do with the plot is useless. If it would've just been once it would've been 5/5. But twice is too much.

Good storyline, for mature children

This movie was enjoyable and exciting, but for mature kids. It's filled with multiple uses of s**t and a**hole and some f**k, p***y, d**k, b**ch and the like. There are some scary moments for younger/immature viewers; some blood, and lots of violence. There is shooting, explosions, and heavy, heavy drug references, uses, and offers. There are a few sex references, but not too much.

Watch it with your kids.

I was scared to watch this movie for a long time because of the rating PG13. I ended up watching it with a friend late at night and overall, it is not too scary for 12+ but has several jump scares. It has a lot of cussing in it but is overall a great mystery movie with a few scares. I would say watch it with your kids and not at night.

Just epic and beautiful.

Super 8 is an excellent movie. The child actors, especially Joel Courtney and Elle Fanning were great in their roles. The action was outstanding and awesome and it has a lot of heartwarming moments. To be honest, the ending was beautiful. It also has decent special effects. Grade: A.

Good movie!

Please read full review! Super 8 is a movie with a very retro feel (around 1980). Pros: Pretty good special effects. Good acting in most parts. Retro feel is nice. Cons: Will leave you saying "what?" sometimes. Acting in some parts feels campy. So does the story. Concerns: Violence and language are prominent concerns, Characters use "s--t" constantly, mostly, "Holy s--t!" things such as "p---y" and "d--k" are used very occasionally, and "What the f--k" once. Gore can be a problem for squeamish audiences, and includes a man's head being smashed onscreen from behind, but cutting away in about a half a second, Lots of blood, but never lingering, except for in the beginning of the movie, when a bloodied man in a truck crash is threatening the children with a gun (which he never uses). a lot of characters die, but very rarely onscreen. Now as far as drugs, there aren't very many concerns, except for in two scenes, in one, a young adult attempts to sell the kids marijuana, and in the second, the same guy is described as "stoned". This was a fun movie that should not be overlooked, but should not be seen by children under 12 in my opinion. Thanks for reading!

Not for kids

List of things why kids should not watch this. The movie the kids film in this movie is a Zombie movie, the alien eats a few people, some blood splats and visuals, drug sellers, kids not listening to parents, illegal driving. Fun movie though just wait to see it till your older kids.

Action packed Classic!

The movie is action-packed and horrifying but at the same time heartfelt, humorous, depressing, moving, and inspiring. Steven Spielberg does it again and makes another great classic!

CSM Insight - Super 8 (DVD)

What other families should know is that Super 8 is a Sci-fi action thriller which is quite frightening. There are some frightening sequences where people are attacked by an alien monster and are taken away. These are very intense and may disturb young children. There is one use of strong language, but it is not used offensively or directly at someone. There is also drug use which is once briefly said that it is 'misused'. Overall Insight: Strong sequences of terror, one use of strong language, moderate threat and violence, a misused drug reference.

Great but language and violence can be an issue.

i really loved this movie. it was thrilling not really horrifying. the actors are no proteges but one character i really like was the pyromaniac, cary. he was just so amusing and i found that he made some of the most comical facial expressions of the movie. also joe dad was pretty cool. ok on to the content :) VIOLENCE: i found this movie to not have much bad violence but when it did it was pretty bad. the worst being the part where the colonel (i think) is trapped in bus with the alien and the thing flat out kills him buy crushing his head. another part (actually my fave and most the electrifying part) was the train crash. pretty much a car purposely drives in front of the train and wrecks it. there is no harm done on screen but it was a little intense. other that these two parts there are only part where the alien grabs people out of site and (off screen) takes them to his lair. because the violence is most of the time mild i would say just have your kids close their eyes on the bad parts. that is why i rated this PAUSE 12 and under :). LANGUAGE: i just have to say that this movie has a wide variety of colorful language and i will only name some of the worst. varieties of sh*t, h*ll, b*tch, varieties of a**, p*ssy, d*ck, and one rather funny use of f***. sooooo yeah. and these words are repeated quite often. hope this helped you decide :D
