What's the Story?

THAT TIME I GOT REINCARNATED AS A SLIME: TEARS OF THE AZURE SEA continues the popular isekai series with a story set during what should be a peaceful island getaway for Tempest, a group committed to harmony between humans and monsters. When the crew becomes separated while exploring Kaien Island, Gobta (voiced by Ryan Reynolds) is sidetracked by Lady Yura (Allegra Clark), a local priestess, and loses track of Demon Lord Rimuru (Brittney Karbowski). As they search for him, they're pursued by enemies seeking to capture Yura, leading the reunited Tempest crew into a high-stakes battle to protect Kaien's water people from an awakening Water Dragon.

This refreshing, mellow adventure sequel should be a fun watch for tweens and teens. That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Tears of the Azure Sea has the typical isekai traits, including reincarnation and fantasy themes. There are some intense, action-packed moments, like the battles between Djeese's soldiers and the Tempest crew, and the plot progresses at a solid pace. Though there are some instances of alcohol use, the content of the movie is pretty kid-friendly. There are obvious positive themes including self-sacrifice for the greater good, and it's a treat to simply enjoy the story and feel endeared by the charming main characters.
