Gripping and beautifully done
I have no idea why the professional reviewer gave this movie such a poor rating. My daughters and I watched it before going to Salem, MA. The acting is excellent, the language is not difficult, and the story is poignantly told. Arthur Miller's adaptation needs to be examined, as he made Abigail Williams (an 11-year-old child) into a treacherous 18-year-old, but beyond that, many of the fact are correct and the way the town flies to pieces quite accurate. This is no feel-good movie, but it is complex and provokes excellent discussion of good and evil, right and wrong, and the danger of mob rule. Highly recommended.
