The Day the Earth Stood Still

It was a boring movie for the most part, but it had its moments.

Use this one as a family conversation starter

Too much violence, which was unnecessary to the story; thought-provoking subject, and allowed for good family conversations

better than the remake but still not that great.

This movie is okay in my opinion, for 12 and up. The original is dated and campy. This computerized remake was entertaining but you already know what you're in for whenever Keanu Reeves acts. The most upsetting piece is easily discounted with kids who realize they're only watching movie effects. But I do get a lot of 'what if' after this.
