I understood the movie was against 'Puppy Farms' - the story was based on a Puppy Farm which has 150 female dogs that are caged there entire life or until they no longer can breed - the story said that was OK is the cages were kept clean, dogs healthy and fed - it was so sad to see all the caged unhappy dogs who never walked or breathed the outside air - reason Puppy Farms should be outlawed!!!

This was so very sad seeing 150 female dogs caged 24hrs a day for the purpose to breed puppies. The film said this was OK if the cages cleaned and dogs kept healthy and feed. This filmed showed the exact reason why Puppy farms should be outlawed due to their inhuman cruelty to dogs.

Bias can go both ways.

I am very disappointed in the Common Sense review of this movie. If the movie was against the breeding of dogs, the author probably would have given this movie a better review. Bias goes both ways. I like that this movie shows the opposite of the typical animal activist point of view. There are people and breeders out there that care for their animals. There are also people out there that treat animals poorly and inhumanely. This movie opens up a dialogue and that is always a good thing. I cannot believe that the author of the Common Sense review was so blatantly negative about the movie because it was produced by a conservative, "oil tycoon." I suppose if it were produced by a Hollywood activist, it would be better received? There was one mention that the dad was conservative and that the main character shouldn't wear short shorts and a v-neck while working with the animals. For heaven sake--with the kind of smut out there, we are going to complain about that? To be honest, I found it refreshing. The girl mentioned that she was a vegetarian at dinner and the little girl questioned it. There was nothing negative said about that choice. Again, this is a hyper sensitive response in the original review. I do not remember a single mention of atheism in the movie, and the only Christian thing they did was pray once at dinner. As for the movie quality, I agree that it has more of a made for tv feel. But, that is not necessarily a bad thing. It was enjoyable to watch, and I was not bored. It was relatively clean. I rated it 8 and up because the killing of the dog that was attacking the little girl could be scary for some younger kids. The bottom line is that this movie is a great conversation starter. It encourages you to investigate and think before you believe everything you hear.

Dog Lover is about Truth

The Dog Lover is an important movie because it stresses to find out the truth about what is really going on. In this movies its has to do with animal issues, but this theme is true and applies to everything. Unfortunately, there are too many organizations that claim to help animals, but are only out to pass their own radical agendas and will often manipulate the truth to get their message across. This film highlights what can happen if you buy into the fake stories they use to push their agenda.
