The Duchess

It was pretty cool, till the rape scene. I'm sixteen, and i was disturbed by her screams. It might be okay for kids more mature for their age, but my eighteen year old sister was pretty shocked.

I saw this with my 13 year-old girl and we had lots of laughs! However, parents need to know that there are 1-2 scenes that are not suitable for children. Both scenes I had looked up before the movie because of inappropriate things I had heard. But other than that, the movie was great, and we learned a lot about the time that was portrayed by the movie. Amazing plot, and would totally recommend!

I was shocked this was rated PG-13. The acting of all the actors/actresses was incredible and the costumes were incredible. But there were a ton of sex scenes and there was nudity and worst of all a graphic rape scene between a husband and wife. And the overall plot of a wife being imprisoned by her husband and the laws of the time that made women inferior to men so that if they didn't do "what they were told" (quoting the husband) that their children would be taken from them and the husband having multiple affairs and a live in mistress IS NOT appropriate content for someone under 18 to watch or properly understand and process. Absolutely not a children's movie and should have been rated R.

A few other movies have done basically the same story line. the acting was so-so, and plot was predictable. I'd say not a family film.
