Complex and beautiful look at male friendships
The movie's premise weaves together a disparate group of men who are all struggling with making ends meet in an economically depressed city. They are rough guys (who swear and drink and tease eachother), but they develop deep love and respect for one another, and offer a beautiful support and understanding that is only rarely seen in movies.
Beyond the male bonding, the movie also touches on the effects of job loss and financial struggles on the relationships the men have with their spouses and kids. And in the end, the love and acceptance given by family and friends seems to renew these previously broken men.
I just loved the transformation.
