The Game of Keys
Parent and Kid Reviews
What's the Story?
At a reunion of friends, the youngest woman in the group proposes a game of randomly swapping partners, the rules of which are not to get involved or repeat the encounter. However, THE GAME OF THE KEYS does not have the expected results and produces fundamental changes in the consolidated relationships of those who participate.
Is It Any Good?
The Game of Keys exploits the desire of women in stable relationships but unsatisfied to experience open relationships. It is a Spanish film adaptation of a Mexican series of the same name. Laura (Eva Ugarte) is immersed in a routine and unenthusiastic marriage with Antonio (Ricard Farré), when she crosses paths with Sergio (Fernando Guallar), a high school friend, who proposes a reunion with his young girlfriend Siena (Justina Bustos). From that encounter, Laura and her friends convince their husbands to participate in a couple exchange.
Although the plot seeks to show funnily the challenges of getting started in the swinger world, the script oversimplifies the characters, who look stereotyped and far from showing adult reactions. This erotic comedy portrays unbelievable middle-aged people whose lives seem to have sex as their only source of happiness. The sexual scenes - which occupy much of the film - lack sensuality or erotic tension. However, thanks to a few well-crafted humorous situations, The Game of Keys could be a good-time movie.
